1997-02-14-First club experience in Denver

Woke up and drank an assload of coffee. I drove to Colorado National bank and opened an account. I needed to put my money somewhere. My checks finally came in from Alta care and I got a final check from Monsanto also. I went with Dan to LePeeps What a kick ass breakfast. I had one of their skillets and 1000 more cups of coffee....WIRED. Dan trained Mindy and then called me and asked me to come over later to go to the movies and then clubbing. He gave me a boatload of leads. They were clients that he couldn't train with his company anymore so he gave them to me on the DL. I closed a few of them, which was good because i need some extra revenue. Dan, jeff and I saw "Space Jam" then we headed to Giggling Grizzly in lodo. Had a great time. Had a few beers, relaxed and listened to some good music. unitil next time.

1997-02-12-Decision day

Woke up and drove down to 24 hour fitness on county quebec . I met with Denise. She is a little firecracker from New York. She really liked my attitude and said she would love to hire me. She told me to think about it and let her know by Friday. I have to weigh out the options. The chilis is right by my house, but the work is not in my field. The 24 hour fitness is in my field, but the drive is almost 35-40 minutes away. I have some tough decisions. I met with Kent from Chili's at 2:30. He asked me a few questions and hired me and told me to report in Saturday for training. I called Denise back and told her I would take the job. She told me to come in tomorrow to get familiar and do some one on one's with her. I will call Kent tomorrow and tell him I had to take a different job in my field, hopefully he will be understanding. Until next time...

1997-02-13-First day

I woke up at 8 and played on my word processor making spreadsheets and forms. I had some coffee and some oatmeal. I decided to head to 24 hour early to make a good impression. I am not sure what I will be doing, but I am sure it will be fun. I remember stopping at einsteins on County line road, getting a cup of coffee and a bagel before I went to 24 hour and just watching the clouds float overhead. Off in the distance, I could see the sun slowly going behind the mountains. It was the most magestical sight I have seen and made my heart skip a beat. Denise had me fill out all the necessary paperwork and introduced me to Paul, the club manager. He is a sales guy and hopes that I can bring in some business. I am not sure how i feel about sales because I am not that confident. I think if Jeff Fabrizio (Dan's friend) can do it, so can I. One day at a time. I read when i got home and fell asleep. Until next time

1997-02-11-The job scene

I hit the job scene today hard. I dropped off resume's at Chili's, Ruby Tuesday, Applebees and Outback Steakhouse. The guy at Outback was a total tool-bag He said, "Don't expect a call back because you have no experience waiting tables. Ron at Chili's told me to come back at 2:30 Wednesday for an interview. The funny thing is that you can't get experience until someone gives you a chance. I don't care what industry you are in, unless you get that first break, you will never get in. Someone has to look at you and see that you have worth. I am looking forward to my interview at Chili's. It may not be what i want, but for now it could be a source of income. Until next time...

1997-02-10-Colorado Springs

So I had to drive Johnny to the airport. He got his ticket out of Colorado Springs because it was cheaper than Denver International Airport. The drive was beautiful and we listened to some great music on the way down. I am going to miss Johnny. Its wierd, but this is the first time I am going to really be on my own. I don't have a lot of friends here, aside from Dan and Liz. I really took a chance on coming out here and feel a bit out of my element. I don't have a job, no real savings and a blank slate basically. I am sure I will make it work. I got home at 2 and called my first client Phyllis Hunley. Dan had referred her to me. She wants to meet next week and She said she would like to train 2 times a week...I am psyched. that means 70 bucks a week. Awesome. Until next time...

Cold and fun

Woke up early today because I thought we were going to Church, however, Dan, Liz and one of dan's friends wanted to drive up to Breckenridge. It was beautiful. We rode from Keystone to Breckenridge. It was FREEEEEEEZing cold. I know it is something i have to get used to. We stopped at a place called "Downstairs at Eric's" I had the soup and a sandwich. It was okay, not great just okay. The beer was way better than the food. What beer you ask, of course fat tire and I tred Buff Gold today too. The ride back turned out to be colder because the sun was starting to set. I was so exhausted that I had to walk and the gang came and picked me up. I picked up Johnny at the Greyhound station. We set his stuff down and loaded it in my car, Unfortunately, we drove off and realized his laptop was not with us. We drove back but found out it was stolen. I was bummed and so was Johnny, but he looked at me and said, "well you can't cry over spilt milk"

My First Ride In Colorado

It was a gorgeous day today. Went on a ride from our place to Cherry Creek . It turned out to be a 20 mile ride. It was a good start to get used to the altitude and distance. We got home at about 2 and I crashed for an hour i was so tired. Later that evening, I was invited by Dan and Liz to go out to Healthy Habits (which i think is currently closed). It is an amazing restaurant with fantastic food at a great price. After dinner, I came home and watched a movie on VCR and fell asleep on the couch. Until next time...

Getting Around

Woke up at 9 or 10. Ate at Chubby's with Dan. Returned the truck and checked out Park Meadows Mall It is a beautiful mall. I really like it. I came home and walked over to Albertsons behind my house and bought some pasta and Salad. Johnny kicked in and bought some Fat Tire...which is now my official favorite beer in the world. Mellow night, unpacked...listened to some music and called it a day Until next time

Making Time

Woke up at 8:00. Johnny and I grabbed some breakfast at Waffle House . I love that place. They have such good "crappy" food. We filled up and hit the road. We hit some heavy winds just outside of Texas. Because of the mountains, we unhitched the car and I drove the rest of the way. The mountains were beautiful. I had a hard time finding the Apartments. Finally, the girl at the front desk guided us in. We got there at 6:45 and she was kind enough to stay late to get us the key so we could move in. We unloaded the truck and went to eat at Ruby Tuesdays. Finally came home. Made a bed ont he couch for Johnny and I crashed on my bed without any sheets. Until next time...

Driving

Woke up at 10 this morning. I was tired. Had breakfast with the Gunman and his wife and hit the road at 11:30 Drove to Dallas and Johnny dropped his car off at Tracy's. We left for Amarillo at about 5:30 or 6. Got to Amarillo at 2:00 and got a room at the motel 6. I passed out hard. Until next time...

Starting my move to Colorado

Woke up t at 3. I couldn't sleep. Guess I am nervous about the move. I went downstairs and watched "Oh God". What a great movie. It has been a long time since I had seen that particular movie. At 7 dad and I went to the office to pick up the green chair and end table. He gave me 350 in cash. He was so nice to do that. Alcohol may be a character flaw, but it cant alter a persons heart. I know how much my dad loves me. It is sad to go, but I must. I hit the road by 8:30 and got to Baton Rouge by 11:00. We finally left for Alexandria by 3 and arrived at 5:30. Johnny and I went to Red Beards, then to Shoneys, ate and came home and crashed. Until next time.
