Dear Dad...

Dear Dad... W ell its been almost 11 years since you passed.  It seems a lot has changed since you were here, or at least it seems to me.  The biggest thing I notice is that you are not around for me to call anymore when I have those bad days.  I miss hearing your voice on the other end of the line.  Sometimes you gave advice and other times you just listened.  I always counted on you being there and I kinda miss it every so often. Mom is doing okay.  She misses you the most, although, i would say it is a tie.  She has her health issues, but she she is doing okay. I try to visit her as often as I possibly can. She is getting fragile but still as beautiful as you remember her.  She has a smile that warms the core of my being and our relationship since you passed has become incredibly strong.  If I can't come visit, I try and give her a call weekly just to let her know that I love her.  She is still an avid crossword and now souduku puzzle figure-outer (I just made that word, I know...

Last day in Nice, off to Antibes

So I woke up today pretty early at about 7:30 to be exact. I went to my little cafe to grab some breakfast and people watch before the day began. I ordered my usual Crepe with Nutella and bananas and a cafe with cream (cafe au lait). My waitress was very nice and super friendly. She brought me my order very quickly. While enjoying my breakfast and people watching, apparently a not so mentally stable person came in and began yelling at my server. Several other servers jumped in and seemed to tell this lady to go away. She did not and the tone of her voice escalated. She became louder and louder yelling at the servers and finally picked up a chair and threw it at a table. The lady sitting on the back row of tables picked up her little dog to make sure she didn't get hurt. The lady finally left screaming and walking down the street. Needless to say, it was entertaining and I am glad no one got hurt. I went back to the hostel at about 9:30 and decided to go to Antibes with the Finnish ...

Delta Continued...

Image
In response to my first blog: http://chadbordes.com/2010/05/02/dear-delta-airlines/ So i got a response today. I was so excited…wait a minute. Delta responded to my concern. They didn't respond at all. Looks like they took a generic "I'm sorry" and added some stuff about "recent email exchange"????? Hello, this was my first email exchange with them, unless you want to count the one where I had to complain about the two Hawaiian airlines flights, in which, Delta has a sky miles partnership with, and I can accrue mileage towards status on Delta, but the class of service was not correct. Bye bye 12k miles. Anyhow, here is what delta said: Dear Mr. Bordes, Thank you for your e-mail to Delta Air Lines. In regards to your e-mail, we apologize about you dissatisfaction with the changes of the Skymiles program changes. And we will be sure to forward any suggestions over to the skymiles Administration department. I appreciate your additional comments concerning...

Movie Review: Up In The Air

Image
5 out of 5 stars I try not to post movie reviews on here because, well truthfully, I use flixster inside of the facebook app for that, however on this rare occasion, I decided to post my official review of this movie. I need to forewarn you that this post may be longer than usual because it really struck a nerve and brought up some great thought points for me--so grab your coffee, water, juice or energy drink, get comfortable and hear me out. I wont talk excessively about the movie and try to touch on points that really stood out to me. Overall it was well done and I think Clooney was a perfect choice for the role so out of 5 stars, I give this movie 5 stars, primarily because it hits so close to home for me. So a quick synopsis is that Ryan Bingham is a guy who works in corporate America as "downsizing expert". He is a road warrior extreme and lives his life out of a suitcase and rarely spends time at his small drab apartment. His ultimate goal is to hit 10,0...

Travel Day-LA to Argentina

Image
Noah and I were up at 4:45 sharp to get ready. We have turned into girls as we have gotten older. Seems like it takes us 45 minutes to do what we used to in 15. We seemed to get ready in a hurry. Only problem was Mr Potato. he didn't want to get up, so he slowed us down a bit. We arrived in plenty of time to clear security, get some quick food, and stop to get noah some stuff for his throat, since he was a little under the weather with it. Before we knew it we were boarding our big bird to Atlanta, a Boeing 777-400. They are amazing, and very cool on the inside. I watched a few episodes of "Hung" and some TV and then before i knew it we were in Atlanta. We landed at the international gate so we didn't even have to change terminals, It was very nice. I think our plane was slated to go to Sydney after dropping us off. We had time to kill since our flight wasn't boarding till 8pm, so we read, relaxed, listened to music and wrote in our journals. It was an ...

Pre day 1-Los Angeles

Today was the final day of packing, prepping and making sure we had all our gear for the trip to south america. I finished up at about 4:30 and then emailed Noah to see how his day was going. Noah finally texted me at 6:30pm to let me know he was on his way home and that he would stop and pick up some food. He arrived at 6:45 and finished his dinner and by 7:30pm we were ready to roll. O ur next door neighbor, Yvonne, was kind enough to drive us up, since Robert, Noah's dad was beat from working all day in the sun. We left at 7:45 pm and arrived at the Sheraton Gateway at 9:30 pm. It is a fantastic property right next to the Airport and has a complimentary shuttle to the Airport. The cost was about $109 for the night and the beds were extremely comfortable and the staff was very friendly. They have a very trendy business center and a cool bar. I highly recommend this property **** 's in my book :-) Noah and I got settled and somewhat organized for the night and went dow...

The airline of the decade....

Image
If you haven't flown them, what are you waiting for? They are in a class apart from any other airline I have ever flown. I had the opportunity this past week to fly them to San Francisco, the home base operations of Virgin Atlantic. Even though the flight was only 1 hour and 10 minutes long, the service and atmosphere is unparalleled. While other carriers are scrambling to save costs, delete routes and kill tons of overhead, Virgin America is re-inventing the way we travel. From the minute you step on to the plane, you will notice a difference in the smiles of the crew members, the young fresh approach to explaining the safety features of the airbus 319 or 320 (that is the only aircraft they fly), and the innovative interactive, behind the seat touch screen display. With this interactive device you can watch movies, listen to the latest and greatest music, listen to live radio, chat with other hotties on the plane or purchase some really cool Virgin schwag. The flight I was on...

Past Events: 2006 and the Playa Bonita Resport & Spa

So its 2006 and I am super excited.  I just got offered to work an event at this gem of a location: Playa Bonita Resort & Spa I am sure many of you are saying, "Oh Wow, You lead such a glorious life", but let me tell you the whole story before you start swooning. I had just moved back to San Diego from an epic fail of a move to Bradenton in my quest for becoming better or doing better or trying to move up the social scale.  I didn't know what I was going to do for work and was feeling the pressure from my fiancee at the time to "find a job".  It was bad enough that I had to move back home with my tail between my legs, what was worse was that I had to sell everything in the process and had no prospects for work.  I put out there that I was going to do some event logistics again. About a week after I put it out there, in December, I got a call from a good buddy of mine who asked if I wanted to work a program in Panama.  I said absolutely.  He gave me the dates...
