There are people...

So there are people that you build relationships and friendships with and then there are the others. A good friend of mine sent me something one time that said Reason, season, and lifetime. It is a poem (if you can call it that) and for those of you that don't know it, or need a refresher, here you go:

Reason, Season, or Lifetime
People come into your life for a reason, a season or a lifetime.
When you figure out which one it is,
you will know what to do for each person.

When someone is in your life for a REASON,
it is usually to meet a need you have expressed.
They have come to assist you through a difficulty;
to provide you with guidance and support;
to aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually.
They may seem like a godsend, and they are.
They are there for the reason you need them to be.
Then, without any wrongdoing on your part or at an inconvenient time,
this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end.
Sometimes they die. Sometimes they walk away.
Sometimes they act up and force you to take a stand.
What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled; their work is done.
The prayer you sent up has been answered and now it is time to move on.
Some people come into your life for a SEASON,
because your turn has come to share, grow or learn.
They bring you an experience of peace or make you laugh.
They may teach you something you have never done.
They usually give you an unbelievable amount of joy.
Believe it. It is real. But only for a season.
LIFETIME relationships teach you lifetime lessons;
things you must build upon in order to have a solid emotional foundation.
Your job is to accept the lesson, love the person,
and put what you have learned to use in all other relationships and areas of your life.
It is said that love is blind but friendship is clairvoyant.

As I make my way to San Francisco this weekend, I am reminded about Lifetime. My good friend Judy Wheeler has been an advocate, supporter and great friend. Judy is extremely selfless and I owe much of my success in my industry to her. She took my name some six years ago and told all of her clients what a great match I would be for their company. Without much ado, I found my work calendar filling up. For this I am eternally grateful

On the supporter front, she has always supported me in any decision that I choose to do. She has also encouraged me to to do things I would have never thought possible. She has supported me when my moods were extremely sky high, and also when they have hit some pretty low valleys. She is selfless in that she doesn't questions things, but tends to act on them. If something doesn't seem right, Judy is pounced into action and ready to dive in. Sometimes she is just a shoulder to lean on and talk about stuff with. Some of the funniest moments of my recent life have been hanging out with Ms Wheeler.

Finally, Judy is a great friend. She not only looks out for me, but those close to her. She is genuinely concerned and has such a great heart. Any time i say i am flying to San Francisco, the first person to respond is Judy asking if I need a ride from the airport. She is a lifetime friend because she doesn't judge and really cares about what you are talking about. Its these kinds of friends that make life so amazing. (With that being said, I am sure this upcoming weekend to San Francisco will entail whigs, Pabst Blue Ribbon, Emmy's and some sort of Karaoke!!!!!--pictures on facebook). So in closing, i just want to thank Judy for being such a great advocate, supporter, and wonderful friend. Think about someone like Judy in your life and reach out to them today via phone, email, facebook or twitter and tell them thank you for being a reason, season or lifetime.

Until next time…
