unforgettable...

Today marks an amazing day in history. Our 44th president, Barack Obama, was sworn into office today. He stands for change and is the breath of fresh air this country needs. Do I think 1 man can change the world, no way. John Donne once wrote, "no man is an island, entire of itself..." This is very true of our circumstances today

We have been marred by a crumbling financial market, we offered loans to people who had no business buying a home, we backed companies in the midst of bad financial decisions, even though we as individuals don't get that same courtesy, we seemed to print money out of thin air. We (our country) is that of a broken spirit, we keep going through the motions even though the banks have knocked on our door to reclaim their house, the repossession companies are taking our cars away, our younger generation (me included) have no concept of saving for what we want, rather we buy on credit and agree to pay off at some future date. However in this time of uncertainty, people believe in the opportunity of a new day. Barrack Obama, regardless of your race, your culture, your creed, your racist views or your religious beliefs, is here and he offers the brightness of a new day. So what if he doesn't have the experience of the older people, he will gain experience along the way, and he will learn from those before him. He is a youthful and energetic and if we begin to believe in that better day, we too will benefit from having Barrack in office. Will.i.am said it best,

"I went asleep last night
Tired from the fight
I've been fighting for tomorrow
All my life
Yea I woke up this morning
Feeling brand new
'Cause the dreams that I've been dreaming
Has finally came true

It's a new day
It's a new day
It's a new day
It's a new day
It's a new day

It's been a long time coming
Up the mountain kept runnin'
Souls of freedom kept hummin'
Channeling Harriet Tubman

Kennedy, Lincoln, and King
We gotta maninvest in that dream
It feels like we're swimming upstream
It feels like we're stuck inbetween
A rock and a hard place,
We've been through the heartaches
And lived through the darkest days

If you and I made it this far,
Well then hey, we can make it all the way
And they said no we can't
And we said yes we can
Remember it's you and me together

I woke up this morning
Feeling alright
I've been fightin' for tomorrow
All my life
Yea, I woke up this morning
Feeling brand new
Cause the dreams that I've been dreaming
Has finally came true

It's a new day
(it's a new day)
It's a new day
(it's a new day)
It's a new day
It's a new day!

It's been a long time waitin'
Waiting for this moment
It's been a long time praying
Praying for this moment

We hope for this moment
And now that we own it
For life I ma hold it
And I won’t let it go

It's for fathers, our brothers,
Our friends who fought for freedom
Our sisters, our mothers,
Who died for us to be in this moment

Stop and cherish this moment
Stop and cherish this time

It's time for unity
For us and we
That's you and me together

I woke up this morning
Feeling brand new
'Cause the dreams that I've been dreaming
Have finally came true
Yea, I woke up this morning
Feeling alright

'Cause we weren't fighting for nothing
And the soldiers weren't fighting
For nothing
No, Martin wasn't dreaming for nothing
And Lincoln didn't change it for nothing
And children weren't crying for nothing

It's a new day
It's a new day
A new day
It's a new day
It's a new day!"

Sorry for the musical poem...but it is a very up beat motivational song. We are looking into a bright future and without hope, where are we? Without love, what do we have? Without family, where is our shelter. I am blessed and loved and thankful for this new leadership.

I leave you with another John Donne,

"All mankind is of one author, and is one volume; when one man dies, one chapter is not torn out of the book, but translated into a better language; and every chapter must be so translated...As therefore the bell that rings to a sermon, calls not upon the preacher only, but upon the congregation to come:"

Have a blessed day and live in love

Namaste
